TESTING THE DISTANCE THE SOUND FROM A LITTLE THUMPA CAN BE HEARD FROM THE PIPE.
A question often asked about the our water pipe locating thumpers is, "From what depth of pipe, can the Thumpa sound be heard?" To test this, the deepest pipe we could find was only around 1m or just over 3' but we had a feeling the sound would travel much further. So we decided to test the depth or distance the sound travels through the ground horizontally from the water pipe; a 50mm or 2" PVC buried 700mm or 2'6"' under the ground. We could still hear the sound 9m or 30' from the pipe.
